“Orphan” Movie Review

Orphan - IMDB

Director: Jaume Collet-Serra.
Cast: Isabelle Fuhrman, Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, CCH Pounder, Jimmy Bennett, Aryana Engineer, Lorry Ayers.

I have extreme admiration for performance of junior stars in adult films, especially horror movies. And since much time is proving that children are able to put forward a project and sometimes steal the show. Based on these trends, the youngest child prodigy of evil is in the orphan – a thriller that impresses more by the actions of its protagonist than for its content. The direction is borne by Jaume Collet-Serra director of House of Wax – so forget the reference.

A perfect family, a couple and two beautiful children – were actually three – as a tragic fact takes the life of one of them, even before birth, a fact that comes to undermine the structure of marriage of parents and making the wife dip in alcoholism and have nightmares at night with what happened. Vera Farmiga (great actress) and Stellan Sarsgaard are heads of household, and even with the loss they decide to appeal to an adoption. And in the midst of so many small children docile and beautiful, with the husband crosses just a grown up already. Esther is the image of the fragility and delicacy. No one in the world, she sings, paints, and is seen looking smart and guess the rumors that the family has faced, soon to fall into the graces of Esther couple.

Esther will live with his new adoptive country and the impression of strangeness of the girl will only grow more and more. Always with great clothes and a Bible in her hand the girl began to be harassed by classmates and even by his new brother. The mother (always) is the first to notice that things are not going well – the girl always appears when the couple is in their intimate and is able to blackmail anyone, always relying on the weaknesses carefully studied by it-what he calls the woman’s attention. But who will believe in an alcoholic?

There is a good deal of tension in the film, for example – there is a scene where the camera goes into a child’s toy in the park making the site into something claustrophobic. The film also has some controversial moments by placing small children in the midst of scenes of murders and even a scene of incredible seduction by the devil. The performance of actress Isabelle Fuhrman tell by the way was praised in all places where the movie came but the film does not go very far, showing that even came to make noise and discomfort. The big difference here is the climax of the film – or the great explanation – that can not fail to surprise, but it’s a little hard to swallow who is Esther.

Shutter Island - IMDB

Director: Martin Scorsese.
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow, Michelle Williams, Emily Mortimer, Patricia Clarkson.

Martin Scorsese finally gets to hold the eyes of lovers of cinema with his latest release which is an adaptation of the novel by Dennis Lehane (2003) which in my opinion, is already successful, “Shutter Island” (in Portuguese: The Island fear).

Leonardo Di Caprio may no longer be the drops from the eyes of little girls, having gained some (many) extra pounds, but more surprises us with impassioned performances and true. It is truly amazing ability he has to live with the fact force of his character in question. I beg to say that Leo DiCaprio is like wine: the older the better!

For weeks and weeks I watched the trailer dreaming of seeing the film, and usually when I get like, I find myself somewhat disappointed with the movie, because I’m always expecting more than one director can create. This time, it did not. Do not disappoint me even for a second, even considering that the first 20 minutes of the film I had already found that he had understood the whole idea. That too did not spoil the film in any way. Even having a sense of what was already coming, just surprises me.

Everything takes place around 1954, when Teddy (Leonardo DiCaprio), a police officer and his partner Chuck (Mark Ruffalo) are called to investigate an alleged disappearance of a patient of asylum for criminals which is located in this island where they are taken. What more intrigue viewers and Teddy is as such a patient could have escaped? There is no sign of leakage, and the doctors responsible for asylum and appear unwilling to cooperate with the search. Like a good cop who had fought and suffered in the war against the Nazis, Teddy is restless and wants to go further. It is this relentless search for the patient that Teddy finds out the real reason he was called to the island.

The drama and darkness of the scenes give a touch of horror and suspense that make us stand still in the chair, without blinking. Who has a very important role in this film is the kind that makes the events become sadder and deeper than they appear. The force of the sea, wind and rain are very important features to observe, because they give the final touch to the temerosidade facts.

Shutter Island is intriguing and wonderful, like Taxi Driver (Scorsese’s film also released in 1976). At the same time that Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) plays the role of a former war veteran battling his own mind in Taxi Driver, Teddy in Shutter Island is long (more than the viewer can imagine) seeking an answer that everyone already knows, but he refuses to see.

“Up in the Air” Movie Review

Up in the AirIMDB

Director: Jason Reitman
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Danny McBride, Vera Farmiga, Melanie Lynskey, George Clooney.

This is another movie cliche about novels (possible and impossible), disagreements loving and somewhat self-help built into almost all the dialogues. It is the style that has been called “romantic comedy.”

The movie is not really so bad, but not excited. Clooney lives a guy who spends most of his time traveling on behalf of his work: firing people. His biggest hobby is to collect miles in search of a great magic number of miles that will give you ultra special benefits (and eternal) in the airline. Logical that because of this back-and-forth endless he has no fixed home, in every sense of the term but do not really care for it, since it also shows a person averse to relationships that can hold onto land.

Sure, this routine will be broken by a series of events, including an romance made of meetings in hotels. Of course this will also become one … Well, you better stop here lest tell the whole movie in a single paragraph and disrupt the enjoyment of those who think they have some fun in this type of movie.

From the director of Juno, the movie gets to have algums nice moments, like introductory sequence where the director uses to great resources to show the routine character in one of his many trips. But that’s it.

One thing that bothers a little is the issue of marketing for the airline. They lose no opportunity to make the company payola, his modus operandi, its relationship with customers who fly a lot and so on. At first it seems cool, because it is one of the goals of life of Clooney’s character get to the top of the world of mileage, but over time becomes unnecessary. Suggests that the film was bought, literally.

Because of the presence of George Clooney’s women will say it is worth seeing the movie anyway. Well, like not even being discussed.

The Lovely Bones

Director: Peter Jackson.
Cast/Voices: Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Saoirse Ronan, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Nikki SooHoo, Michael Imperioli, Amanda Michalka.

Peter Jackson leaves behind the mega projects like The Lord of the Rings and King Kong, and back to the origins, time of Heavenly Creatures. A Look in Paradise is a melodrama, and unfortunately reminded me at times, that bad movie with Robin Williams, What Dreams May Come. Primarily by psychedelic moments employed by Peter Jackson to show the paradise. Visit Employee Retention.

This paradise, inhabited by the protagonist of the film, that same strange girl from Atonement, by the way a good actress. Susie Salmon (like fish) is brutally murdered early in the film. “Living” in this paradise, this 14 year old girl watching all the suffering that his family (father, mother, younger sister) goes through due to the fact.

Suggesting a natural order of things, the roadmap provides various transitions of feelings during the film. I’ve Talked about grief, then comes the desire for revenge, perfectly natural in this context. But unlike other films that focus only on that feeling and finish pouring, often without showing consequences, another transition occurs. And it is not simply the feeling of forgiveness. It sounded more like an acceptance, from the justice / divine providence.

Speaking a little of the other performances, we have Mark Wahlberg dull as ever. The gorgeous Rachel Weisz can not do anything to help, very little used. And still has an outbreak and is away from home one time. Luckily, we have a psychopath done well by Stanley Tucci, who while not great things is one of the good performances of the film. A comical character, but good. Anyway, I waited much of the film, and expectations were not met, it is still a good movie.
