“Kung Fu Panda” could have six films and “How to Train Your Dragon”, eight.

The executive director of the animation department of DreamWorks, Jeffrey Katzenberg, revealed the plans already confirmed of sequences to titles of the company, according to Coming Soon. He referred specifically to the titles Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.

Madagascar 3 is scheduled for release only in May 18th, 2012, but there’s already thinking of making a fourth film in the franchise. According to Katzenberg, the third film will have an open end, bringing the animals back to New York where the series began.

Kung Fu Panda 2, is scheduled to debut May 27, 2011, but DreamWorks planning is for six films in total.

How to Train Your Dragon is scheduled for February 2013 and will have at most one movie to close a trilogy. Katzenberg said that the company has devised a specific path for the characters, but, depending on the success, the franchise can get to go to have eight films, since in the books, the author Cressida Cowell has already reached that number.
