They have already chosen the actress who will play the lead female role in Sherlock Holmes 2: the swedish, Noomi Rapace, seen on the big screen in The Men Who did Not Love Women.

Although the actress 30 years has been confirmed in the project has not been disclosed what character she will play, and may be to a french gypsy.

The movie Sherlock Holmes opens with Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) and Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan) riding in a carriage in the middle of the night. The scene cuts from the carriage to Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) who is following on foot. He’s in a tremendous hurry – rv he darts between columns, up and down stairs and around buildings effortlessly – and finally enters a non-descript building.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous super-sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, gets an update with this adaptation of Lionel Wigram’s comic book series by writer/director Guy Ritchie (RocknRolla) starring Robert Downey Jr. as the titular detective, with Jude Law stepping into the shoes of his sidekick, Dr. Watson. Heading up the rest of the cast are RocknRolla’s Mark Strong as the film’s villain, Blackwood, and Rachel McAdams portraying the love interest, Irene Adler. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In the second film, professor Moriarty appears and Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother, also participate in the plot. Again, the story will be original and not a direct adaptation of the books of Arthur Conan Doyle.

The continuation of Sherlock Holmes debut on December 16, 2011.
